I can breathe under water

Freedom.
To me, it means being able to breathe.
No poisonous thoughts raging through my mind.
No fears burning under my skin.

I can breathe.
Even in the darkest of hours.
Even in the narrowest of rooms.
I can breathe under water.

Freedom is a decision.
Just like anything else.
If you have wings.
Use them. Spread them.

I have wings.
Even in the darkest of hours.
Even in the narrowest of rooms.
I can fly under water.

A narrow mind is a heavy gun.
Fire it and the bullet will return.
It will  tear holes into your plumes.
It will hit your own lungs.
It will hit your own heart.

I can feel.
Even in the darkest of hours.
Even in the narrowest of rooms.
I can feel under water.

Freedom means letting life happen
while making things happen that deserve a yes.
If you want freedom, grant freedom.
Freedom means letting go of control and to dance.

I can dance.
Even in the darkest of hours.
Even in the narrowest of rooms.
I can dance under water.

I am free.
Because I can breathe under water.
Because I can dance in the narrowest of rooms.
Because I can fly even in the darkest of hours.
Because my mind isn’t toxic.
Because my heart can say yes.
I am lucky.

If you have wings.
Use them. Spread them.
Throw the guns in your mind into the depth of the ocean.
Dive down and bury them beneath your fears.

I can swim.
Even in the darkest of hours.
Even in the narrowest of rooms.
I can swim under water.

“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion” - Albert Camus
